FL Speaker Series: Joseph C.A. Agbakoba

On February 26, Professor Joseph C.A. Agbakoba will give an academic workshop at Utrecht University as part of the Fair Limits project. The workshop will take place from 14.00-17.30 in the Stijlkamer, Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies (Janskerkhof 13).

Professor Agbakoba is Professor of Philosophy at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka and currently the president of the International Society for African Philosophy and Studies (ISAPS). His book Development and Modernity in Africa was published last year: https://www.koeppe.de/titel_development-and-modernity-in-africa

The workshop will consist of two parts. Prof. Agbakoba will first  discuss a chapter from his new book with us, focusing on Justice and Development: Explorations of Complementation, Trans-Cultural and Positive Justice. We will circulate this chapter ahead of the workshop (along with the preceding one what might help to better understand it). In the second part Prof. Agbakoba will present work in progress on ‘Sovereignty and the Right to Development: Conflicts, Challenges and Solutions’.
